HC Deb 04 November 1954 vol 532 c75W
80. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has yet received from the British Embassy in Rome the assurances asked for by the hon. Member for Aberdeen, North, on 29th September, about the imports by Mr. W. P. Clark, fish merchant, Aberdeen, of monk fish into Italy; and if he will explain the delay which has occurred.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

No reply has yet been received to our representations to the Italian authorities, but the application of the regulations of which the hon. and learned Member complains has been suspended until 1st January. In view of the number of consultations involved, I cannot accept the suggestion of undue delay in dealing with this matter.
