HC Deb 04 November 1954 vol 532 c69W
71. Mr. Collins

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of the congestion of traffic and the loss to industry occasioned by certain annual ceremonial processions, such as the Lord Mayor's Show, he will consult with the authorities concerned with the object of arranging that, in future, such parades should take place on Saturdays.

Major Lloyd George

No. A proposal to hold the Lord Mayor's Show on Saturday was examined but rejected in 1952. Her Majesty's Government see no reason to dissent from the conclusion then reached on this point. I know of no other annual ceremonial parade which might be held on a Saturday.
