HC Deb 02 November 1954 vol 532 c31W
65. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the evil effects of certain comic papers on children, he will initiate discussions with representatives of the newsagents' organisations with a view to preventing such reading material from reaching the hands of young people.

Mr. J. Stuart

I have received a copy of a resolution passed by the Scottish Council of the National Federation of Newsagents, Booksellers and Stationers at a meeting at Perth held on 27th October, recommending all newsagents not to handle horror-type comics. I welcome this sensible and helpful attitude.
