§ Mr. Blenkinsopasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the items headed, "Administration," on social service expenditure given in tables A-E of the Monthly Digest of Statistics for May, 1954, include the cost of pensions currently being paid to civil servants, local government officials, teachers, doctors and other superannuated persons; and whether separate figures can be given for such expenditure.
§ Mr. H. BrookeThese pensions are all excluded. Details of those which are a charge on the Exchequer appear in the Appropriation Accounts. For local government officials and other similar categories whose pensions are not so charged, complete figures are not published and are not readily available.
