HC Deb 26 May 1954 vol 528 cc31-2W
Sir I. Fraser

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many Statutory Instruments classified as general were in operation on 1st November, 1951, made under emergency legislation and under permanent legislation, respectively.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

Records kept at the time do not disclose the exact number of Instruments in operation on 1st November, 1951. Calculations from statistics compiled subsequently indicate that, of the Statutory Instruments classified as general, there were then in operation about 792 made under emergency legislation and about 7,741 made under permanent legislation.
