HC Deb 26 May 1954 vol 528 c32W
Mr. Llewellyn

asked the Minister of Agriculture what recent tests have been made by his Department in areas of South Wales, where Sir Charles Martin infected rabbits with myxomatosis before the war; and whether he will make a statement about the incidence of this virus in those areas.

Sir T. Dugdale

No recent tests have been made of rabbits on the island of Skokholm off the coast of Pembrokeshire where three attempts were made, under the direction of Sir Charles Martin, in the years 1936 to 1938, to introduce myxomatosis. The disease soon died out and I understand that the virus did not survive from these experiments.
