HC Deb 26 May 1954 vol 528 cc29-30W
89. Captain Orr

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he will make a further statement on the Government's intentions with regard to the first report of the Television Advisory Committee; and what provision he proposes to make for the mobile radio services, in view of the Government's intention to deprive them of their present wave-lengths in Band III.

Mr. Gammans

As my hon. and gallant Friend is no doubt aware, my noble Friend has accepted the recommendations of the Television Advisory Committee in their first Report that the whole of Band III should be made available for television.

As regards the second part of the Question, my noble Friend is setting up a committee representing users of the mobile radio services, and the Post Office and other Government Departments concerned to examine the practical problems which the T.A.C.'s first Report raises in relation to those services.
