§ 52. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the policy of Her Majesty's Government regarding the future constitutional status of Malta, and in particular regarding the change which the Government of Malta seeks of its affairs from the Colonial Office to the Home Office.
§ Mr. LytteltonThe Prime Minister of Malta is at present in this country for exploratory talks about our offer of last September to transfer to the Home Secretary the responsibility for handling the affairs of Malta. While these discussions are in progress, I have no further statement to make.
