asked the Minister of Food what progress has been made towards the siting and building of a public abattoir in Hull.

Proposals for the siting of a new public slaughterhouse to serve Hull and district have been submitted by two local authorities. A final decision about the siting of this and other slaughterhouses must await the report of the Interdepartmental Committee on Slaughterhouses.
