§ 70. Mr. Malcolm MacPhersonasked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware of the recession in the iron-founding industry in the Falkirk-Bonnybridge area; and what steps he is taking to place defence orders with this industry.
§ Mr. LowYes. The ironfoundry industry in the Falkirk-Bonnybridge area has been suffering from a decline in orders. Firms in the area will continue to be invited to tender for Ministry of Supply orders as occasion arises, but, with the progress of the defence programme, orders on the ironfoundry industry are not likely to be as large in the future as they have been in the past three years.
