HC Deb 11 March 1954 vol 524 cc173-4W
70. Mr. Mainwaring

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will outline the measures and inducements applied to the problem of bringing new industries into Wales; and if he is satisfied that the requirements of industrialists already there are being met.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

The distribution of industry in England and Wales is subject to Section 14 (4) of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1947, and the statutory provisions directed towards the establishment of industry in Development Areas, including the Welsh Development Areas, are contained in the Distribution of Industry Acts, 1945 and 1950. With regard to the second part of the Question, if the hon. Member has a particular case in mind, I should be glad to look into it.
