§ Mr. Hollisasked the Minister of Labour how many requests he has received to meet a deputation from the Aeronautical Engineers' Association on the problem of dilutee labour; and what has been his reply to those requests.
§ Sir W. MoncktonI have received no such requests relating to this particular subject. On three occasions, however (once in conjunction with other organisations) the Aeronautical Engineers' Association have asked me to receive a deputation to discuss questions connected with190W trade union recognition. Letters were sent to the Association explaining that these were essentially matters to be decided by the employer concerned in the light of the particular circumstances, and that no general rule could be laid down, such a discussion would therefore serve no useful purpose. The Association also asked me recently to receive a deputation to discuss certain alleged breaches of International Labour Conventions about which they had written to my Department. They were told that these representations would be dealt with by correspondence, and this has since been done.
