§ 58. Mr. Manuelasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is aware that hardship and loss of staff has resulted from the 23 transfers from Redbrae, Prestwick, to Birdlip, in Gloucestershire; and if he will give an assurance that no further transfers will take place.
§ Mr. ProfumoI regret that some loss of staff and temporary hardship was involved in these transfers which took place in 1952. They were, however, unavoidable owing to the reduction in communicator work at Redbrae. A further eight to 10 transfers will be required in the next six months and, as I explained to the House in the debate on Civil Aviation last Monday, I am satisfied that these are inevitable.
