§ VISCOUNT TEMPLEWOODasked Her Majesty's Government what grants, if any, are given to officials serving overseas towards the education of their children in: (1) the Foreign Service; (2) the Works Department of the Air Ministry; (3) any other Departments, Service or Civil.
§ THE EARL OF SELKIRKOfficials serving overseas receive allowances towards the education of their children as follows:—
(1) Foreign Service.
Branch A officers: £150 per annum for each child at boarding-school in the U.K.
Branch B officers: £100 per annum for each child at boarding-school in the U.K.
(2)Commonwealth Relations Office and the Trade Commissioner Service of the Board of Trade.
Officers of the Administrative class: £150 per annum for each child at boarding-school in the U.K.
Other officers: £100 per annum for each child at boarding-school in the U.K.
(3)All other Departments (including Works Department of the Air Ministry).
£50 per annum in respect of the first child and £75 in respect of each subsequent child at boarding-school in the U.K., provided that the official is accompanied overseas by his wife.
All the above allowances are free of tax.
