§ Mr. HeadOver the past year both military and civilian staffs in the War Office have been reduced. The form of the routine statistics makes it somewhat complicated to arrive at the relevant figures in and outside the War Office, but in the year ending 1st April, 1954, 134 officers and 82 other ranks in my Department were replaced by civilians.
