asked the Minister of Works to what use Chiswick House is to be put when the work of restoration is completed.

The restoration of Chiswick House will not be completed for some years. My intention has been that the house would then be opened to the public. I am asking the Historic Buildings Council for England to advise on this question.

asked the Minister of Works which buildings of architectural interest in the grounds of Chiswick House it is proposed to restore; and what will be the cost of restoration.

The cost of restoring all the garden structures and ornaments in the grounds of Chiswick House is estimated at about £20,000. I cannot say when money is likely to be available for this and meanwhile only first aid repairs are being carried out.
