HC Deb 01 June 1954 vol 528 c67W
Mrs. Mann

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will introduce a Towns Development Act to assist overspill problems in the Clyde Valley; and whether he will take steps to extend the English Act, with suitable amendments, to Scotland.

Mr. J. Stuart

In a recent report the Clyde Valley Regional Planning Authority Committee took the view that arrangements of the kind the hon. Lady has in mind would be inappropriate in relation to the new development at Cumbernauld, recommended by the Committee in an earlier report; but it is considering the question further in connection with other possible methods of dealing with overspill.
