§ 92. Mr. G. Williamsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that the owners of many motor cars and motor cycles in the Metropolitan area fail to fit proper silencers to their vehicles; and if he will take steps to see that the law is enforced.
§ Sir D. Maxwell FyfeThe Metropolitan Police are fully alive to the need to enforce the relevant Regulations. The Commissioner of Police informs me that in 1953 they dealt, by summonses or warnings, with 2,796 cases of infringement of the Regulations relating to the emission of noise from motor vehicles, which include those which specifically require a silencer to be fitted.
