§ 74. Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a special effort to further peace in Malaya by offering an amnesty on generous terms jointly agreed between the political parties who are now co-operating with him in securing the further democratic progress in Malaya.
§ Mr. HopkinsonNo. Under current policy the Government of the Federation of Malaya accept the voluntary surrender of Communist terrorists and offer them generous opportunities to start a new life. Over 1,000 armed terrorists have already taken advantage of these opportunities.
