Mr. C. I. Orr-Ewingasked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he is aware that no television aerials can be manufactured for receiving the alternative television programmes until he announces the polarisation to be used; and whether he will make a statement at the earliest opportunity.
§ Mr. GammansMy noble Friend has now decided, in accordance with a recommendation which is supported by the Radio Industry Council and the B.B.C., that the I.T.A. stations should, as far as possible, employ the same polarisation as that used, or planned, for B.B.C. Band I stations serving the same areas. The first three I.T.A. stations,66W which will serve the London, Birmingham and South Lancashire areas, will, accordingly, have vertical polarisation.
