asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take steps to restore punishment by flogging in cases of robbery with violence upon Post Office officials in view of the increasing number of such cases.

No. I have no evidence that such offences are on the increase, and I have no reason to think that the powers at present at the disposal of the courts are inadequate.
