HC Deb 22 July 1954 vol 530 cc132-3W
49. Miss Ward

asked the Prime Minister whether he is aware that the North-East Coast has less hospital beds available in almost every category than the national average; has less than the national average in grants for the maintenance of classified roads and is eliminated from extra grants in respect of technical education; and if he will set up an inquiry into the methods of allocating money to different regions in respect of these services.

The Prime Minister

I am surprised that the hon. Lady should suggest that there is any discrimination against the North-Eastern area of England by the Government of which she is a supporter. The particular services referred to in the Question are matters for the Departmental Ministers concerned.
