asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has yet received the report of the Gowers Committee on foot-and-mouth disease.

Mr. Nugent

Yes. The Report is now being printed and will be published on 28th July. The committee's recommendations cover a wide field. They are being closely studied and before any decisions are reached comments will be invited from the bodies mainly concerned.

I should like to take this opportunity to express the Government's warm thanks to Sir Ernest Gowers and his committee for having undertaken such an important and difficult task, resulting in this most valuable Report.
