asked the President of the Board of Trade, as Canada is now the second largest supplier of tobacco to this country and is rapidly overhauling the United States of America in that respect, to what extent this tendency is likely to continue or is due to transitory circumstances.

About one-twelfth of the tobacco used in the United Kingdom (compared with only one-thirtieth before the war) is supplied by Canada, which is now our fourth largest supplier. I cannot say how long the present tendency is likely to continue.
