asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what instructions have been given to immigra- tion officers about granting entry to persons whose sole purpose in travelling to this country is to attempt to get free medical or surgical treatment.

The general rule is that leave to land should be refused to an alien if the immigration officer is satisfied that the sole purpose of the alien's visit to the United Kingdom is to secure free medical treatment.
