HC Deb 22 July 1954 vol 530 c156W
114. Sir L. Ropner

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the number of fatal accidents on the roads during 1953 in the West Riding of Yorkshire in which a motor vehicle was concerned; and in how many of these accidents the drivers of motor vehicles were convicted for being under the influence of drink.

In the West Riding, during 1953, there were 327 fatal accidents in which a motor vehicle was concerned. Five of the drivers concerned, in the opinion of the police, were under the influence of drink, but we have no record of the number convicted.
