§ Mr. Wyattasked the Prime Minister whether the British division dedicated by Her Majesty's Government to the European Defence Community will be under the command in peace-time of the British commander-in-chief in Germany or the commander-in-chief of the European Defence Community.
§ The Prime MinisterThere will be no commander-in-chief of the European Defence Community. The British division which Her Majesty's Government have dedicated to the European Defence Community will, in peace-time, be under the operational command of the commander of the European Defence Community corps in which it is placed. The E.D.C. corps commander, in turn, will be responsible, through the appropriate superior headquarters, to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe. The British commander-in-chief, Germany, will continue to be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the division.
