HC Deb 20 July 1954 vol 530 c87W
9. Mr. Paget

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether a local authority who make an arrangement with a limited company for the letting of municipally-built houses to workmen employed by the company on terms that the employers should reimburse to the local authority their proportion of the housing subsidy continue to qualify for the national housing subsidy.

Mr. H. Macmillan

Housing subsidies authorised by the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1946, as amended by the Housing Act, 1952, are paid in respect of houses erected by local authorities and are not attached to the tenancy.

It follows that any agreement between the local authority and an employer about the reimbursement of the Council's rate fund contribution cannot affect the authorised Exchequer contribution.
