HC Deb 20 February 1954 vol 689 c246W
Mr. Coulson

asked the Minister of Transport on what conditions he would be prepared to receive a deputation from the Humber Bridge Board to discuss Government aid towards the construction of a Humber Bridge.

Mr. Marples

I understood that the Board was preparing a report on the financial implications of a bridge. I have not received it yet, and I do not think a meting would be useful in the meantime.

I am doubtful whether the very high cost of a bridge and its aproaches would be justified at the present time, but I am ready to consider a report from the Board. We can then see whether a meeting might be useful later.
