HC Deb 18 February 1954 vol 523 cc230-1W
71. Mr. Edelman

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many affiliation orders have been made by magistrates against American Service men since 1952; how many have been enforced; and what means exist for enforcement when the Service man leaves the country.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I regret that the information asked for in the first two parts of the Question is not available. There is no means of enforcing an affiliation order made by a United Kingdomcourt against a person who has left this country, but the United States authorities do all they can to persuade Service men to comply with such orders.
