HC Deb 18 February 1954 vol 523 c229W
70. Major Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department to give figures to show the comparative prevalence of sheep stealing in England in 1938, 1946 and 1953.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

I regret that separate figures for sheep stealing are not available. The number of offences of larceny of sheep, horses and cattle known to the police in England and Wales in 1938, 1946 and 1952 was 96, 241 and 349. The figures for 1953 are not yet available.
