HC Deb 18 February 1954 vol 523 c238W
92. Mr. Grey

asked the Minister of Education whether she will withhold her consent to increases in school fees proposed by the Girls'Public Day School Trust in view of the fact that the yield from the increases will be in excess of the additional cost of the Trust of the recent Burnham award.

Miss Horsbrugh

I have not received any proposals for increased fees in the upper schools of the Girls'Public Day School Trust, but if I do I will consider them on their merits. I have received proposals for increased fees in the junior schools of the Trust. Ipay no grant in respect of these junior schools but the increases proposed appear to be reasonable in relation to the increased cost which will have to be met if salaries in these schools are increased in accordance with the proposals of the Burnham Committee.
