HC Deb 18 February 1954 vol 523 c225W
60. Mr. Albu

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the necessary legislation will be introduced defining the section of the Civil Defence Corps which is to be responsible for the removal of casualties from a bombed area.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

Legislation is not required to place duties on a section of the Civil Defence Corps. Plans for the collection of casualties are being discussed with the representative associations of local authorities. When they have been agreed a draft regulation under the Civil Defence Act, 1948, will be laid before Parliament conferring on local authorities the function of organising this service.
