Dr. King

asked the Minister of Education the number of new schools built since the war; and how many school places they provide.

Of 1,081,200 school places provided by new building between the end of the war and 1st October, 1953, 484,255 are in 1,640 new schools completed by that date.

On 1st October, 1953, there were 969 new schools under con- and manufacturing cigars, respectively, in Jamaica in 1949, 1950. 1951. 1952 and 1953.
