§ 119. Mr. Ness Edwardsasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will advise the cancellation of Circular 54/52 so that grants shall again become available for sewerage and water schemes in the South Wales Development Area under Section 3 of the Distribution of Industry Act, 1945.
§ Mr. H. MacmillanI cannot undertake to withdraw Circular 54/52 at the present time. Neither my right hon. Friend the Minister for Welsh Affairs nor I feel that it would be right to treat South Wales differently from other Development Areas in the matter of grants under Section 3 167W of the Distribution of Industry Act. I am, however, even while Circular 54/52 is in force, prepared to consider applications under Section 3 in cases which are of exceptional industrial urgency.
