asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has reached a decision with regard to the re-introduction of the hill sheep subsidy.

Yes. After full consideration of all the relevant circumstances and consultation with the interests concerned, the Government have decided that they would not be justified in authorising payment of a subsidy in the current year. The question of the subsidy will, of course, be reconsidered next year, in the light of prevailing economic conditions in the hill sheep industry.
