HC Deb 10 February 1954 vol 523 cc123-4W
57. Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the policy of Her Majesty's Government on the desirability of international action to ensure that all existing facilities are avail able for all ships passing through the Suez Canal.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

It will be recalled that Her Majesty's Government, together with the Governments of France and the United States, took the initiative in bringing this question of the Egyptian blockade of Israel before the Security Council in August, 1951. The Israel Government have now raised the matter again in the Security Council and it is being debated at the present time.
