asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will take steps to secure that the United Nations establishes an Economic Commission for the Middle East.

No. In view of the past history of this suggestion, Her Majesty's Government feel that the initiative for further action should come from the Governments in the region concerned.
