§ Mr. HopkinsonThe total amount of financial aid given or promised to Malta since the war (including £20 million for war damage and reconstruction) is £25,547,000. The annual grants at present being made in respect of certain administrative expenditure are (a) grant to cover the net cost of the Imperial side of the Dyarchy; (b) grant to cover the cost of civil defence and stockpiling measures; and (c) grant for four years from 1953–54 of two-thirds of the cost of an agreed emigration programme, up to a maximum of £200,000 in any year.
