asked the Assistant Postmaster-General the total outstanding number of applications for the telephone service in the borough of Wembley; what is the earliest date of any outstanding application; and what is the number of new subscribers serviced during the year 1953.

326 applications were outstanding on the 31st December. 1953, of which 220 were in course of provision. The earliest is dated 12th May, 1951, and is from a subscriber who already has a telephone, but requires an additional line. During 1953, 1,195 new lines were connected.
