HC Deb 03 February 1954 vol 523 c34W
60. Mr. Palmer

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make representations to the Government of the United States of America that no arms or equipment should be supplied to Spain under the agreement concluded recently between the United States Government and the Spanish Government of a character that could be used for hostile action against Gibraltar.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

No. The safeguards in the agreement between Spain and the United States regarding the use of arms and equipment supplied to Spain make any approach of the sort suggested by the hon. Member unnecessary.
