asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury for how much the paintings belonging to the National Gallery, which are on loan to other persons or bodies, are insured.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

One hundred and sixty-eight pictures, on loan to provincial galleries, are insured for £115,915. In accordance with normal practice the pictures on loan to other bodies wholly or mainly dependant on moneys provided by Parliament are not insured.
