§ 125. Mr. G. Longdenasked the Minister of Labour what advice has been tendered to him as to the industrial use of polonium by the advisory committee set up by Section 6 of the Radioactive Substances Act, 1948; and what safety regulations he has made under Section 5 of the Act in relation thereto.
§ Mr. WatkinsonNo advice has been tendered to my right hon. and learned Friend by the advisory committee set up under the Radioactive Substances Act. The general safety, health and welfare provisions of the Factories Acts are applicable, and the Factory Department has issued, with the advice of the Radiological Advisory Panel appointed by the then Minister of Labour in 1945, a guide to precautions in the use of ionising radiations in industry, including the use of polonium. It is not yet considered necessary to make special regulations.
