Fletcherasked the President of the Board of Trade what steps he is taking to ensure early payment of debts 176W due to British suppliers of goods and commodities to Turkey to whom payments have not been made by Turkish nationals who have been prevented from making such payments by the action of the Turkish Government.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftHer Majesty's Government are at present negotiating with the Turkish Government on this matter. Following discussions which took place in London last month between United Kingdom and Turkish officials, I hope that it may soon be possible to arrive at an agreed arrangement for discharging these arrears.
