asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many members of the prison staff in Scotland are living out of official quarters; and to which prisons such officials are attached;

(2) how many persons, other than members of the prison staff, are in occupation of official quarters; and at which prisons.

NOTES:

1. Official quarters are normally provided only for married officers. Quarters for unmarried officers are however available at four institutions for women and at Cornton Vale Borstal Institution.

2. At Perth five houses are occupied by Mental Nurses seconded from the General Board of Control for employment in the Criminal Lunatic Department.
