HC Deb 14 December 1954 vol 535 c133W
Mr. Mulley

asked the Minister of Defence if he will make some provision in cash or kind for the necessary expense of buying new civilian clothing, which at present falls wholly and heavily on National Service men or their families, on completion of their military service, since after two years, at this age, they almost invariably find that their former civilian clothing no longer fits.

Mr. H. Macmillan

No, I see no sufficient ground for varying the decision reached on this matter by the late Government and announced in the House by the then Minister of Defence on 30th March, 1949.
