§ Brigadier SmythParents' pensions under the Royal Warrant are granted on the basis of need, the governing factor being what the deceased might have been 93W expected to contribute to his parents' support had he survived. I think the present arrangements enable justice to be done in individual cases. There are about 52,000 such pensions.
