HC Deb 09 December 1954 vol 535 cc58-9W
Mr. Remnant

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many immigrants from the West Indies have been admitted to this country during the nine months ended 30th September, 1954.

Major Lloyd-George

It is not possible under the existing law to ascertain the exact number of British subjects from overseas who enter the United Kingdom to settle, but information given by Colonial Governments to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Colonies suggests that some 6,000 migrants left the West Indies for the United Kingdom during the first nine months of this year.
