§ Sir H. Roperasked the Under-Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether his attention has been drawn to the decision of the Government of Burma to levy Burma income tax on Government pensions paid outside Burma; and whether Her Majesty's Government will extend to those pensioners a scheme of compensation for any additional tax which they may have to pay on the lines of that introduced for pensioners of the Government of India in 1951.
§ Mr. Dodds-ParkerYes. I am glad to anounce that a tax compensation scheme, on the lines of that sanctioned in 1951 for Indian pensioners and subject to similar conditions, will be extended to pensioners of the Government of Burma whose pensions are paid by or through the Commonwealth Relations Office. Particulars of the scheme will be sent to the individual pensioners concerned.
