asked the President of the Board of Trade to set out in tabular form the different rates of duty charged on different categories of timber imported

Persimmon wood, hickory wood and cornelwoodm logs, planks, square-cut blocks or lengths, or blocks or lengths of rectangular cross-section tapered by sawing on one or more sides, not further prepared or manufactured. Exempt
Roundwood logs of pine, spruce and aspen, in the natural state or free from bark or bast, not hewn or sawn except cross cut at the ends, in lengths not exceeding 50 inches, the top diameter not being more than 12 inches. Exempt
Logs of Gaboon mahogany (Okoume) in the natural state, not hewn or sawn except cross cut at the ends, and not less than 10 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter. Exempt
Other timber (in the round or hewn or square-sawn, but not further prepared or manufactured):—
Coniferous 8s. per standard of 165 cu. ft. £277,900
Non-coniferous 10 per cent. ad valorem £784,400
* All timber imported under the conditions of Imperial Preference is admissible free of import duty.
